How Do I Register to Vote?

  •       Must be a citizen of the United States.

          Must be registered to vote in the county you live in.

          Must be 17 year and 10 months old to register to vote, and you must be 18 years old by Election Day.

          You can not be a convicted felon; unless you have completed all of your punishment, including any term of incarceration, parole, supervision, period of probation, or have received a pardon. If you are on "deferred adjudication" or "off paper", you may register and vote.

  •       You need to fill out a Voter Registration Application form. You may come into our office and fill out the application in-person.

          You may print a copy of the Voter Registration Application, complete, sign and date the form. Then mail the application to our office.

          You may also fill out a voter registration  form online, following the link to the Texas Secretary of State Voter Registration.

          Please note that you must have a driver's license, personal identification card, or a social security number. These forms of identification are needed in order to complete the Voter Registration Application.

  •       A voter may call our office and ask if they are currently registered in Lampasas County.

          A voter may follow the link to the Texas Secretary of State My Voter Portal, then enter in the required information to check their registration status.

          A voter must know their date of birth, Texas Driver's License number, name, VUID (Voter Unique Identifier) number, and or the county they live in, to use operate the My Voter Portal.

APPROVED FORMS OF ID FOR A REASONABLE IMPEDIMENT DECLARATION:

    •       A Voter Registration Card is a voting information card provided to a registered voter. The card will have their VUID (Voter Unique Identifier) number, year of birth, gender, voter precinct number, and the voter registration's validation dates.

            A Voter Registration Card will also have information for the voter, so that they are aware of their voting jurisdiction. This includes:

      • United States Representative
      • State Senate
      • State Representative
      • County Commissioner
      • Justice of the Peace
      • City District
      • School District

           

          • To validate their Voter Registration Card, a voter signs their name on the line, next to the "X".

           A voter may even print on the indicated line, which political party they would like to vote in, during a Primary Election.

    •       In the state of Texas, you are not required to have your Voter Registration Card on hand, when you vote in-person. All that is required is you Driver's License.

            It is helpful to the voting clerk, for the voter to have their Voter Registration Card with them, when they vote in-person. This will allow the voting clerk to speed up their check in process.

            It is at the voter's discretion on whether they keep the card on their person, or in a safe place at home.

    •       You may call, or come in-person, to our office and request a replacement card. (As long as your registration information has not changed and you are requesting your personal replacement card.)

            You can complete a Voter Registration Application and check the box "Request for a Replacement Card". Then mail, return in-person, or fax the application to our office.
